Great job on the pics Shawn! Looking forward to a hopefully somewhat drier summer so I can get to a few more events this year. I wonder if we get enough women at the shoot-out if we should have another class for them.
hey is there a phone # i can call for info
Just got back from a wet week-end at Hanna. Still managed to get a good bit of racing done. Kudos to the Hanna Cruizers for putting on anaother great event even when mother nature didn't co-operate very much.
WE WERE GOING TO COME TO RACE AT THE AIRPORT THIS WEEKEND, BUT IT SAYS NO NON REGISTERED VEHICLES ALLOWED, WE BUILT AN EXHIBITION DRAG TRUCK. WE CAN'T COMPETE EH?VISIT OUR WEBSITE TO SEE PICS. CHEERS. ALLAN
Sorry Drags are set up for registered vehicles only, Must have registration and insurance on vehicle in order to race, Street legal race event. Thanks
sounds like there is a few race cars (unregistered cars)that want to come out and race. is this a safety concern, due to insurence or just the club wanting a grass root drag race event.
it was a great show last year with lots of retro cars, most from the 50's, 60's and 70,s(some very fast true 9 sec.1/4 mile cars)
i don't see any need for change. stick to your formula, it is working
is Sat a go
sounds like Rain til noon
Everything is set up and ready to go, so get into your car and start cruising to stettler for a fun filled weekened of drag racing.
Just checked with The Weather Network and the weather now is calling for sunshine and 0% rain on Saturday and Sunday.
Yesssssssssssss. Let the races begin.
is it true??
stettler is going to go wide open!
i here that they are going to let in non street registered race cars as long as they have a current "nhra" or "ihra" tech sticker for 2012 and a time slip from the same track.
is there going to be any other stipulations?
looking forward to another get event.
I just read the drag race rules, seems pretty straight forward. Looks like they will be teching much like Castrol, IMHO not a bad thing. I know that Stettler's volunteer techs caught a couple bad tie rod ends last year and although the drivers were not too happy, their safety and the safety of all the others at the track meant that they had to be replaced before they were allowed to race.
It has been a fun, safe event in the past so opening it up should allow more people to have an enjoyable weekend, drivers and spectators both.
just curious as to what is concidered a good run time and top speed in the 100' shoot out? I've brought the Brockley Datsun 240 V8Z back to Alberta, paired it up with a 2000 chevy Malibu sporting a 3800 sieries one supercharged engine, and are now looking to attend show and shines with them.
Truly engrossing post. This is a extremely interesting blog. I wish to read even more in future. The blog has been explained in fabulous manner to help out reader and visitors.

Several members of your club came to Big Valley on Sat Jun 16 for show & shine and dinner after which many chose to peel up main street with tires screaming and rocks flying. They give your club a bad name and their antics were not appreciated by the members of our community if you come again please show some respect. Thanks

AWESOME!! See ya Friday night for Tech and Saturday and Sunday for racing!!
What time does the actual racing start on sat and sun?
WOW!!!! get weekend. best yet, even with the rain delay on Saturday drivers got in a min. of 3 runs and up to 5,6 or 7 if they wanted. some drivers left thinking that the day was lost due to the rain but the boys salvaged the day and even managed a 26 car bracket for fun.
sunday was even better min. 4 qualifing passes before the eliminations started. the eliminatons slots were tightened up from last year by adding more classes and it paid of with many close races and a great set of finals. K M S engines put on a display with a 1930 blown 2000 hp. altered (even john force would have been proud of the 1/8 mile burnout. thanks Tavis and Ken)
best of all there was standing room only as 1200 fans packed the seats and left the show stinking like race fuel, tire smoke, sun burnt and most of all SMILING.
can they make it better next year?
help them with some ideas on this blog site. PLEASE

The links and resources posted by you in the blog are very useful for me! I was looking for this exact and particular information for a long time. Thanks.
me and my freind wanna join this event but it states that there is NO pre-registration. I dont really wanna travel 7 hours to be turned around.. any comments? is it worth thr trip? is there anyway to get a 100% spot?
if you want give me a shout 403 740 9530 we can work things out. in the past we HAVE NOT turned anybody away from our event that was not safe or a deisel. if you are traveling 7 hours one way to race and we are at capacity you can take my spot.
thanks for the support
hope to see everybody there
Are there any payouts this year
How is the event structured? Will there be daily events or a will the standings accumulate over both days? Do we have to show up Friday night for tech or is there tech the other to days as well? Thanks!
Tech will happen Friday, Sat and Sun. You will only need to be teched once for the weekend. Each day is a separate event with a plaque for the class winners. The main focus is to have fun!
Why no bike?
Bikes are awesome.
Three hills and Hanna let me run.
Med hat and castrol let me run.
Just so ya know, bikes are awesome
Hey racers. Sounds like the rain will stay away (hopefully). I think the Club will be setting up the track on Fri. Afternoon so there will not be any Tech. They may do the club cars to get them out of the way. That's the way I heard the program will work
See you there.
Kudos and a big thanks to all the racers and volunteers that were part of our event this past week-end. One of the largest fields of cars and the fastest group we have ever had made for great racing all week-end. Please leave any comments or suggestions that we can consider to make our event even better. Already looking forward to next year. Thanks again.
